Job Summary

Respiratory Therapists are an integral part of the team of medical practitioners providing care to our patients. Sanford Health, one of the largest and fastest growing not‑for‑profit health systems, is seeking a compassionate, patient, and problem‑solving Respiratory Therapist who will provide essential respiratory care to patients.

Location & Schedule

Facility: Bemidji Medical Center

Location: Bemidji, MN

Shift: 8 Hours - Day Shifts

Job Schedule: Full time

Weekly Hours: 40.00

Compensation

Salary Range: $32.50 - $44.00 per hour

$30,000/2 years or $40,000/3 years

Primary Responsibilities

Perform diagnostic tests including spirometry, diffusion testing, lung volumes, airway resistance, respiratory muscle forces, bronchial provocation testing, asthma exercise testing, exhaled nitric oxide testing, cardiopulmonary stress testing, home oxygen evaluations, six‑minute walk tests, arterial blood gases, and other tests as ordered by the doctor.

Administer respiratory therapies and educate patients on the use of medications and equipment.

Calibrate, clean, and maintain diagnostic equipment and recognize equipment malfunctions.

Secondary Responsibilities

Maid emergency situations by performing CPR.

Cross‑train in Pulmonary Rehab, serve as a student preceptor, and assist during new‑employee orientation.

Prepare the next day’s schedule and ensure orders are in the patient’s EMR.

Qualifications

A degree in Respiratory Care from an accredited program; minimum associate degree or equivalent.

Thorough knowledge of all procedures, indications, contraindications, and hazards involved in respiratory care.

Strong computer skills for patient documentation and data gathering.

Current Respiratory Therapy licensure in the state(s) of practice and/or multi‑state licensure privileges as required.

Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentials and active status per NBRC requirements.

Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required.

Site‑specific specialty credential(s) such as Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), etc.
