Job Title: Lead Quality Control Inspector

Job Description

The Lead Quality Control Inspector serves as the primary point of contact for all quality operations within a manufacturing environment supporting the oil and gas industry. This role oversees inspection processes, ensures compliance with customer and regulatory standards, and leads quality initiatives related to pipe, valves, fittings, and pipeline components across the shop floor.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate daily quality control operations across all shop floor activities to ensure consistent and reliable inspection processes.
  • Supervise, train, and support quality inspectors to maintain high performance, accountability, and adherence to established quality procedures.
  • Perform and oversee inspections of raw materials, in-process production, and finished goods to verify conformity to specifications and standards.
  • Inspect pipe, valves, fittings, and related components to ensure compliance with oil and gas industry specifications and customer requirements.
  • Review blueprints, customer specifications, and work orders to verify product quality, dimensional accuracy, and proper documentation.
  • Maintain detailed inspection records and quality documentation to ensure full traceability and support audits and customer inquiries.
  • Identify non-conformances, document findings, and implement corrective and preventive actions in collaboration with relevant teams.
  • Coordinate closely with production, engineering, and shipping teams to support quality objectives and ensure on-time delivery of products.
  • Analyze quality trends, investigate recurring issues, and identify opportunities for continuous improvement in processes and procedures.
  • Promote, enforce, and model safety and quality standards across the facility to foster a culture of safe and reliable operations.

Essential Skills

  • At least 3 years of experience in quality inspection within a manufacturing environment, preferably in the oil and gas industry.
  • Hands-on experience working with pipe, valves, fittings, or pipeline-related products.
  • Previous leadership or lead-level experience in a quality-focused environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and customer specifications.
  • Proficiency in using inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and related measuring equipment.
  • Familiarity with quality standards such as API, ISO, or similar frameworks.
  • Strong documentation skills with the ability to maintain accurate, detailed inspection records.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with inspectors, production, engineering, and shipping teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and drive corrective actions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment that supports the oil and gas industry.
  • Experience in inspection of pipeline components, including pipe, valves, and fittings.
  • Exposure to continuous improvement initiatives and quality trend analysis.
  • Ability to coach and mentor team members to enhance quality awareness and performance.

Work Environment

This role operates in an industrial shop environment that can be hot, dusty, and loud at times. You will regularly lift up to 75 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds, and spend most of your shift standing, walking, bending, and using hands and tools for inspection tasks. The position requires consistent use of personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times to ensure safety while working around manufacturing equipment and materials.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tulsa, OK.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $30.00/hr.
