CNC Programmer Position Summary The CNC Programmer is responsible for developing, optimizing, and maintaining CNC programs used to manufacture complex precision components and tooling. This role supports aerospace, defense, and other high-precision applications by creating efficient machining processes, designing fixtures, and collaborating with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure products meet exact specifications and quality standards. Essential Responsibilities - Create and optimize CNC programs for 3-axis and 5-axis machining centers using Siemens NX and other CAD/CAM software to manufacture complex components and tooling. - Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and CAD models to determine machining operations, setups, and process sequences. - Select appropriate tooling, fixtures, and materials to ensure efficient production and compliance with part requirements. - Design and develop custom fixtures when required to support machining operations. - Maintain accurate records of CNC programs, machine setups, revisions, and validation results. - Develop setup sheets and process documentation to support machine setup and production. - Perform test runs and make program adjustments to ensure dimensional accuracy and adherence to tolerance requirements. - Partner with engineers, machinists, and quality personnel to troubleshoot technical issues and improve machining processes. - Work with quality engineers and inspectors to verify finished products using precision measuring equipment and ensure compliance with specifications. - Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on cycle time reduction, quality enhancement, and process optimization. - Stay current on emerging machining technologies, tooling advancements, and programming techniques. - Ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards. Qualifications - Associate degree in CNC Programming, Machine Tool Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field preferred. - Minimum of 3–5 years of CNC programming experience, including 5-axis machining. - Experience in aerospace, defense, medical device, or other precision manufacturing environments strongly preferred. - Proficiency with Siemens NX software. - Familiarity with Siemens, Fanuc, Hurco, and Mazak machine controls. - Experience with CMM inspection and PC-DMIS software is a plus. - Working knowledge of additional CAD/CAM software platforms is beneficial. - Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, materials, and quality requirements. - Experience developing and optimizing complex CNC programs for precision components. - Working knowledge of G-code and M-code programming. - Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot machining issues and improve processes. - Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams. - High attention to detail and commitment to precision and quality.
