CDL Driver / Laborer

We have an immediate opening for a CDL Driver/Laborer. The candidate must be willing to work on a construction crew assisting in construction activities (manual labor) for the placement of various underground telecommunications cable/fiber and/or sewer pipeline installations. The candidate will also be on-call to assist their team.

Responsibilities:

• Performs general construction work under the direction of a Foreman/Supervisor
• Manually digs holes and trenches with a shovel and other hand tools
• Has basic knowledge of underground cable locating
• Is able to operate various types of trucks and equipment
• Is responsible for transporting equipment and materials
• Installs underground telecommunications cabling
• Flags traffic, sets up a safety perimeter using signage, cones, and safety barriers
• Performs daily walkarounds and alerts mechanics of any defects
• Can communicate effectively with customers and employees

Qualifications:

• Can climb into and out of equipment (cars, trucks, backhoes, trenchers, etc.)
• Can operate or work around heavy equipment and machinery
• Is familiar with and obeys all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Rules and Regulations
• Can perform repetitive motion with hand, wrist, feet, head, and shoulder
• Can work outdoors in a diverse environment
• Can work in congested and remote areas
• Can work while standing or sitting for several hours at a time
• Can work in small or sometimes confined areas
• Can work at variable heights/depths
• Can lift or carry up to 75+ pounds
• Can reach, bend, and stoop while performing work
• Can maintain visual and audible contact with other crewmembers and all moving or stationary persons, vehicles, or objects to ensure safe coordination of movement
