Mobile Diesel Technician Level II

The Mobile Diesel Technician Level II will perform licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, light and follow‑up repairs, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic diagnostics, and other duties as assigned. The Technician II can perform advanced diagnostics and repairs under the supervision of a senior technician and continues to develop advanced mechanical skills and diagnostic techniques. Successful technicians comply with all company policies and achieve high level performance metrics.

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
  • Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling, starter/alternator, fan clutch, engine electronics, steering, engines, transmissions, clutches, and differentials.
  • Diagnose, adjust, and repair various truck equipment using hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
  • Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using handheld computers and pressure gauges.
  • Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation.
  • Identify problems, evaluate alternatives, and make sound judgments.
  • Independently manage parts inventory and perform periodic reconciliation on company‑issued service truck.
  • Maintain and operate service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspections.
  • Work with clients to assess needs, provide assistance, and resolve issues.
  • Manage concurrent tasks and prioritize work activities and time allocations.
  • Document work according to company standards, upload pictures and part details on Repair Orders using the TRAIT application.
  • Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely fashion.
  • Maintain a high level of productivity and meet standard repair times.
  • Obtain parts from approved vendors as necessary.
  • Communicate with management and support teams via email or phone for approvals and purchase orders.
  • Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, environmental policies, OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED and 3 years of experience in a related field; alternatively, a relevant degree or certification with 5 years of experience.
  • Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary for job duties.
  • Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within eighteen (18) months.
  • Complete DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical; a current DOT medical card with more than four months validity may be substituted for a DOT physical.
  • Be at least 21 years old and hold a valid driver’s license with the ability to maintain a Driver Qualification File.

Paid Time Off and Holidays

USD 26.73 – 40.10 per hour. Hourly base may vary based on location and candidate skills; additional commission and incentive programs may apply.
