The Kitchen Stewarts/Dishwashers position at UPMC Passavant is a vital role that ensures the smooth operation of the hospital’s food service department through rigorous cleanliness and sanitation standards. This role is tasked with maintaining exceptional housekeeping and sanitation practices in production, service, dining, and storage areas. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all areas are kept in an inspection-ready condition in line with Health Department guidelines. This position requires a strong commitment to safety, hygiene, and teamwork to contribute to a clean and safe food environment within the hospital.

In addition to cleaning and sanitizing kitchenware, pots, pans, and utensils, the role includes duties related to trash removal, floor and wall cleaning, and adherence to recycling and chemical safety protocols. The role also extends into light food preparation, assisting in serving food and beverages, delivering meals to patients’ rooms when necessary, and ensuring proper table settings before each meal service. Furthermore, the Kitchen Steward/Dishwasher supports the food service team by monitoring equipment temperatures, maintaining large kitchen equipment, and following HACCP procedures to guarantee food safety throughout the kitchen operation.
