Job Title: Intermediate Trailer Maintenance Technician
Job Summary: As an Intermediate Trailer Maintenance Technician, you will play a vital role in ensuring the reliability and performance of J.B. Hunt trailers and equipment. You will need to demonstrate your ability to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair various trailer systems while adhering to company standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize your knowledge of preventative maintenance and standard repairs on trailer equipment, including fuel systems, batteries, engines, drivetrains, onboard computers, transmissions, air brake systems, and FHWA inspections.
- Troubleshoot and accurately perform intermediate repairs to meet company and manufacturer's specifications.
- Complete work orders efficiently, adhering to standard repair times (SRT) and warranty guidelines.
- Mentor and assist in the training of new trailer technician trainees.
- Participate in Original Equipment Manufacturer training for OE repairs.
- Follow all shop safety procedures diligently.
- Maintain professional communication with J.B. Hunt personnel and customers.
Work Schedule: Shifts may vary, and experienced technicians may work multiple shifts, including nights and weekends based on business needs.
Compensation and Benefits:

Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, including military experience.
- At least 1 year of experience in DOT inspections, FHWA inspections, and air brakes.
- Ability to provide or purchase basic tools through the company toolbox purchase program.
- Willingness to work outdoors and across various shifts, including nights and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent with 2+ years of semi-trailer maintenance experience.
- Basic welding skills (MIG and stick).
- Strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Proficient computer skills, comfortable with the Microsoft Office suite.
- Physical ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
