Position Title: Grants Accountant
Department: Finance

FLSA Status: Exempt
Compensation Amount: $50,000-$65,000

Position Summary: The Grants Accountant is responsible for the accounting, analysis, reconciliation, reporting, and financial compliance for federal and state grant awards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
•
Ensure grant accounting practices comply with generally accepted accounting principles and federal and state grant requirements
•
Work within Blackbaud Financial Edge to ensure appropriate use of grant project codes
•
Collaborate with Academies and HR teams to ensure grant-funded employees are continuously identified and being reported correctly
•
Ensure the completeness and accuracy of all time and effort documentation
•
Prepare journal entries and perform research and reconciliation of grant related activities
•
Prepare reports which track month and YTD activity and distribute to appropriate members of the organization
•
Create monthly reimbursement requests to federal/state agencies for all applicable grants
•
Provide input and backup documentation for fiscal monitoring requests made by Federal or State representatives
•
Provide support to Grants Team with grants revisions, submissions to the Arizona Department of Education, and completion reports
•
Provide excellent customer service; respond to inquiries and research questions as they arise
Required/Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field at minimum.
Required/Preferred Experience: 3-5+ years of accounting work experience. Experience with grant accounting in education preferred. MBA or CPA Preferred.

Experience with Blackbaud Financial Edge is preferred.

Self-starter with the ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
•
Ability to develop positive and professional relationships with team members.
•
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint; Blackbaud Financial Edge system experience a plus
Physical Functions: Requires but is not limited to standing, sitting, repetitious hand and body movements, bending, squatting, and reaching. May be required to move or position equipment up to 15 pounds approximately.
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal history background check and fingerprint clearance in accordance with state requirements.
Travel required: May need to travel locally for training and professional development opportunities.
