Job Title: Cook / Housekeeper
Location: Assisted Living Center (19 Residents)
Position Summary
The Cook/Housekeeper is responsible for preparing nutritious meals and maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents. This position plays a vital role in supporting the health, dignity, and quality of life of our residents through meal service, sanitation, housekeeping, and infection control practices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Dietary Services
- Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks according to the facility menu.
- Follow physician-ordered diets, food allergies, and special dietary requirements.
- Ensure meals are served in a timely, attractive, and sanitary manner.
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness and comply with all food safety and sanitation standards.
- Monitor food inventory and notify management of needed supplies.
- Properly store, label, and rotate food items using FIFO (First In, First Out) practices.
- Maintain daily kitchen logs, temperature logs, and sanitation records as required.
- Assist residents with meal setup and dining room service as needed.
Housekeeping Services
- Clean and sanitize resident rooms, bathrooms, common areas, dining areas, offices, and other facility spaces.
- Make beds and change linens according to facility schedules and resident needs.
- Wash, dry, fold, and distribute resident and facility laundry.
- Empty trash and biohazard waste containers following facility procedures.
- Maintain adequate housekeeping and laundry supplies.
- Follow infection control protocols and universal precautions.
- Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or damaged equipment to management.
Resident Care and Customer Service
- Treat residents with dignity, respect, and compassion.
- Promote a warm, welcoming, home-like environment.
- Communicate professionally with residents, families, visitors, and staff.
- Observe and report any changes in resident condition or concerns to caregiving staff and management.
Safety and Compliance
- Follow all state licensing regulations, facility policies, and health department requirements.
- Maintain compliance with food handling, infection control, and workplace safety standards.
- Participate in required staff meetings and training programs.
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous cooking, food service, housekeeping, or assisted living experience preferred.
- Current Food Handler Card (or ability to obtain upon hire).
- Ability to safely operate kitchen and housekeeping equipment.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- TB Test Required
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and carrying.
- Ability to work in kitchen heat and perform cleaning tasks throughout the facility.
Schedule
- Full-Time or Part-Time
- Weekends and holidays as scheduled
- Flexible shifts based on facility needs

Pay: $14.00 - $18.00 per hour
