Honey’s House Assisted Living | Austin, TX
Pay: $18–$20/hr, depending on experience
Honey’s House is a licensed assisted living home, not an institutional facility. We care for 22 residents in a warm, highly personal environment with a private chef, involved families, and a team that knows every resident by name, routine, and what helps them feel safe.
We’re looking for a day shift Caregiver / Personal Care Attendant who brings warmth, steadiness, and skill. Mornings matter here. The way a resident wakes up, gets dressed, eats breakfast, and starts the day sets the tone for everything that follows.
About the Shift
Days are the most active part of our residents’ lives. You’ll help residents begin the morning with dignity — at their pace, in their way — and support them through meals, activities, family visits, and early afternoon routines.
You’ll work alongside a close, supportive care team with a strong staffing ratio, so you have time to care for people the right way.
What You’ll Do
- Assist residents with morning care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, oral hygiene, toileting, and mobility support
- Follow each resident’s service plan, daily routine, and activity schedule
- Support breakfast and lunch service alongside our private chef, including dining setup and feeding assistance when needed
- Help residents participate in activities and engagement throughout the day
- Observe and document changes in behavior, mood, physical condition, appetite, mobility, or safety
- Notify the manager and Wellness Director when a resident’s condition or needs change
- Respond calmly to dementia-related behaviors using redirection, de-escalation, and compassionate presence
- Monitor for fall risks, wandering, and unsafe situations throughout the shift
- Keep resident rooms and shared spaces clean, safe, and organized
- Assist with laundry and light housekeeping as needed
- Document care notes in real time using our electronic health record system
- Support safe evacuation procedures in the event of an emergency
What You Bring
- Prior caregiving experience required
- Dementia, Alzheimer’s, assisted living, memory care, or long-term care experience strongly preferred
- Active Texas CNA certification preferred, but not required
- Ability to assist with transfers, mobility, bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and other activities of daily living
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and support residents safely throughout the shift
- A warm, steady presence with residents who may ask repeated questions or have shifting moods
- Clear written and verbal communication
- Comfort documenting care notes in an electronic health record system
- Comfort working in a real home environment with families present and involved
- Reliability, punctuality, and a team-first mindset
- Pride in doing small things well, because small things matter deeply in this work
Training
Before assuming care responsibilities, you’ll complete required orientation and dementia-specific training. During your first days of employment, you’ll receive structured, supervised training covering activities of daily living, resident safety, emergency and evacuation procedures, behavior management, de-escalation, fall prevention, documentation, and Honey’s House care standards.
Ongoing annual in-service education is required.
