The Center for Health Equity & Community Wellness (CHECW), CHECW"s work focuses on social determinants of health, including environmental and commercial determinants, and addresses both upstream and downstream factors to improve health and well being of New Yorkers. The Office of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO Office) aims to bridge NYC's healthcare systems with the health department to expand and strengthen bidirectional communication and engagement around the emerging health needs and risks of NYC communities. These capabilities are achieved by coordinating and streamlining agency-wide provider communications, using content tailoring approaches by leveraging a health provider contact information database, and leverage community connections to increase agency reach to providers. Specifically, the CMO Office focuses on keeping the health providers abreast of healthcare affordability opportunities for all New Yorkers and works to coordinate front-line health worker engagement activities to connect New Yorkers to benefits and resources that supplement healthcare affordability obstacles. The CMO Office works closely with the Commissioner's Office and Divisional leadership to strategically plan and implement agency-wide e forts and response to public health priorities and emergencies. The Office of the Chief Medical Officer seeks to hire a Special Assistant.

DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:

  • Conduct outcome and impact evaluations of CMO Office programs related to provider engagement, healthcare workforce unification, and frontline public health services delivery.
  • Collect primary data, such as provider communication analytics tracking and public health workforce engagement, in support of office goals and projects to include in Agency's Quality Performance Report (OPR).
  • Assist with and conduct assigned research, literature reviews, memos, including work on the application anti-racist public health practice, and data collection instruments to improve and streamline provider engagement e forts across agency.
  • Work closely with other members of the CMO Office's team, ensuring seamless support for daily tasks, meetings, reports, and activities, as well as high-priority projects including al provider engagement and community health worker activities.
  • Support and staff CMO and Deputy CMO with internal and external meeting coordination and preparation, follow-up items and activities, document review and approval process, and other related activities.
  • Manage goal gathering and reporting projects, including the Agency's Quality Performance Report (QPR), provider communication analytics tracking, and publication tracking.
  • Coordinate and manage requests to CMO Office, including coordination of a meetings with CMO and Deputy CMO to share information and build collaborative relationships across agency and oversee of the office's pre-approval and review request processes.
  • Assist with and conduct assigned research, literature reviews, memos, and other summaries, including work on the application anti-racist public health practice.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge base on critical issues in public health, chronic disease prevention and management, place-based work, community engagement, bridging public health and health care, COVID-19, and social determinants of health, including research, policy, and programmatic interventions.
  • Coordinate and lead staff across the office to create, refine, format, proof-read, and organize deliverables, metrics and reports, applying a racial equity lens to documents in review.
  • Manage and/or lead special projects at the request of the Deputy CMO, as needed.
  • Organize Office activities, including staff meetings and guest speakers. Attend meetings and events on behalf of the CMO Office, as requested.
  • Maintain and improve upon organizational systems to manage information flow within the CMO Office.
