About the Role:
- Flux Automotive is a new independent EV-focused repair shop in Tampa specializing in Tesla and electric vehicle diagnostics, maintenance, and repair.
- We are looking for an experienced automotive technician to join as our lead technician and help build the foundation of the shop from the ground up.
- We are open to both part-time and full-time candidates.
- If hired full-time, this is a steady 40-hour-per-week position, not a flat-rate-only role dependent solely on flagged or billed hours.
- As the lead technician, you will have significant autonomy over how the workshop operates.
- This is a rare opportunity for the right technician to step into a leadership role early and help build a modern EV repair shop the right way.
- EV or Tesla experience is preferred, but not required.
Why Join Flux Automotive:
- Steady full-time pay: full-time hires are paid for a fixed 40-hour workweek, not unpredictable flag hours
- Strong compensation
- Immediate Bonus potential as the shop grows
- Health Insurance reimbursement
- Lead technician role with significant autonomy
- Opportunity to help build the workshop, procedures, and standards
- EV-focused shop with a clean, modern repair environment
- No oil changes, engine rebuilds, exhaust work, or transmission rebuilds
- Opportunity to become a leading EV/Tesla specialist in Tampa Bay
- Early role in a high-growth niche with increasing long-term demand
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the lead technician for the shop
- Diagnose and repair Tesla and other electric vehicles
- Perform brakes, suspension, steering, electrical, cooling/thermal, and component replacement work
- Create and refine shop SOPs, repair procedures, safety guidelines, and quality-control processes
- Help choose tools, equipment, service information, and diagnostic workflows
- Use scan tools, laptops, wiring diagrams, and service procedures to diagnose vehicles accurately
- Document findings clearly and communicate repair recommendations
- Help maintain a clean, organized, professional workshop
- Take ownership of the technical standards and daily flow of the shop
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of automotive technician experience preferred
- EV, Tesla, hybrid, European, or advanced diagnostics experience preferred, but not required
- Strong diagnostic and electrical troubleshooting ability
- ASE or EV specific certifications are a plus, but not required if experience is strong
- Comfortable using scan tools, laptops, service information, and digital workflows
- Valid driver’s license and ability to be covered under shop insurance
- Professional, dependable, self-directed, and interested in growing with a specialized shop
- Leadership mindset and willingness to help build processes from the ground up
If you are a strong technician who wants more ownership, more autonomy, and the opportunity to help build a modern EV repair shop from the ground up, we would like to hear from you.
