Part‑time Faculty – Dental Assisting
Portland Community College invites applications for part‑time faculty positions in the Dental Assisting program. The position is based in the Vanport Building, downtown Portland, and will involve teaching required courses to full‑time and part‑time students.
Instructor Qualifications
- Current Certified Dental Assistant (CDA)
- Oregon Radiology Proficiency
- Oregon EFDA and Sealant certificates
- Bachelor’s degree (required)
- Five years of clinical experience in a full‑time dental assisting role either as a general chair‑side assistant or as a dental assisting instructor. Dental hygiene or dentist license may substitute for the dental assisting certificates.
Related Instruction (Embedded in DA courses)
- Evidence of recent continuing education in:
- Team building and/or dental practice management skills (Human Relations and Communication)
- Dental materials manipulation and fabrication of impressions, temporary crowns, and study casts (Computation)
- Experience in curriculum design, teaching, or training (Human Relations)
