Job Title: Laboratory Technician

Location: Indianapolis, IN 46077

100% onsite

Duration: 12 months contract

Position Overview

We are seeking an entry-level Technician to support operations within production laboratory. This role is ideal for recent graduates and candidates with up to five years of relevant experience who possess a strong scientific background and an interest in bioprocessing and laboratory operations.

Approximately 80–90% of the role involves hands-on laboratory work, with the remainder dedicated to documentation and operational support. This position supports laboratory and production operations and is not a Scientist-level research role.

Education:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline, preferably in Biology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Microbiology, Organic Chemistry, Physics and related scientific disciplines

Experience:

  • Recent graduates and candidates are encouraged to apply.
  • Prior laboratory experience is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with sterile laboratory techniques and fermentation operations.
  • Experience using hand tools and performing basic equipment maintenance.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support and oversee fermenter operations including sterilization, inoculation, cell growth and feeding, harvesting, cleaning, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Perform fermenter sampling and routine process monitoring.
  • Apply sterile techniques for inoculating and sampling shake flasks.
  • Operate autoclaves and safely handle acid/base mixing systems.
  • Conduct off-line sample analyses using laboratory instruments including viscometers, centrifuges, spectrophotometers, and pH meters.
  • Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation.
  • Investigate deviations from expected results and contribute to technical reports.
  • Manage laboratory supplies and inventory.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on laboratory equipment.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and conduct routine repairs.
  • Replace valves and other components on bioreactors.
  • Utilize basic hand tools to support equipment reliability and upkeep.
  • Follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including Six Sigma projects.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to support workload and project goals.
