Project Manager – Industrial Construction Facilities

Location: Manteno, IL

Department: Engineering / Capital Projects

Work Arrangement: 100% On-Site

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager – Industrial Construction to lead large-scale capital construction and infrastructure projects within a manufacturing environment. This individual will oversee projects from concept through commissioning, managing multiple concurrent initiatives with budgets exceeding $50 million while ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with all applicable regulations.

The ideal candidate possesses strong technical knowledge of industrial electrical systems, utilities, mechanical infrastructure, and facility construction, along with exceptional leadership, project management, logistics coordination, and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities

Manage multiple industrial construction and facility infrastructure projects simultaneously, with individual and combined project budgets exceeding $50 million.

Lead projects through planning, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and project closeout.

Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, forecasts, resource plans, and risk mitigation strategies.

Coordinate cross-functional teams including Engineering, Manufacturing, Maintenance, Facilities, Supply Chain, Logistics, Procurement, Quality, EHS, and external contractors.

Review engineering drawings, electrical one-line diagrams, P IDs, construction documents, and technical specifications.

Oversee installation and commissioning of industrial electrical, mechanical, HVAC, chiller, and utility systems.

Ensure compliance with company safety standards, building codes, environmental regulations, and governmental requirements.

Manage contractor performance, RFIs, change orders, project documentation, and construction quality.

Identify project risks, troubleshoot technical challenges, and implement effective corrective actions.

Coordinate utility infrastructure projects with utility providers, municipalities, and government agencies.

Provide regular executive updates regarding project status, schedules, budgets, and risks.

Logistics Supply Chain Coordination

Partner closely with Supply Chain, Procurement, and Logistics teams to develop equipment procurement strategies aligned with project schedules.

Coordinate long-lead equipment purchases to ensure materials arrive in accordance with construction milestones.

Monitor supplier manufacturing timelines and delivery schedules to minimize project delays.

Develop staging, storage, and material handling plans for large industrial equipment and construction materials.

Coordinate transportation, site deliveries, crane schedules, and installation sequencing with contractors and logistics partners.

Collaborate with internal warehouse teams to ensure proper receipt, inventory, and preservation of project materials.

Identify supply chain risks and proactively develop contingency plans for critical equipment and utilities.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent experience).

5-7+ years of project management experience leading industrial construction or manufacturing facility projects.

Demonstrated experience managing capital projects exceeding $50 million.

Proven experience managing multiple complex projects simultaneously within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
