Boeing Pre-Employment Training (BPET) Students - Assembly Electrical Mechanics (Variable Shift)

Location: North Charleston, South Carolina. Shift: Variable shift – assigned at hire based on business needs.

We are seeking students who have completed the Boeing Pre-Employment Training (BPET) certified courses for the Assembly Electrical Mechanic role to join our 787 production teams. The role involves working in a dynamic manufacturing assembly environment, performing tasks based on engineering drawings, maintaining quality standards, and contributing to a career in aviation.

Eligibility

Open exclusively to students who have completed the Boeing Pre-Employment Training (BPET) certified courses.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Complete the New Hire Training Cycle Flow to obtain and maintain required certifications.
  • Adhere to high standards of safety and quality, complying with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Boeing Quality Management System (QMS) requirements.
  • Ensure work conforms to engineering drawings and specifications; achieve First Pass Quality (FPQ) and eliminate FOD (Foreign Object Debris).
  • Use computers and software applications in a production environment.
  • Read, interpret technical work instructions, drawings, and specifications.
  • Wear required protective clothing/equipment for tasks.
  • Operate various mechanical lifts (ladders, scissor lift, aerial lifts).
  • Handle chemical solvents, sealants, coatings, primers, adhesives, paints, and finishes.
  • Climb, balance, and maneuver on stairs, ladders, poles, scaffolding, and inclined surfaces; crawl and crouch as necessary.
  • Work around energized sources – electrical equipment, hazards/shocks such as circuit breakers and wiring; follow safety protocols.
  • Work in a noisy environment; read from computer screens, printed drawings or documents.
  • Carry or lift up to 35 pounds; perform required bending, reaching, rotating, and twisting motions.
  • Route wire harnesses to supports following Boeing specifications for the 787 program.
  • Build connectors, splice wires, crimp, and terminate wires; install connectors to receptacles and electronic components.
  • Perform repairs and rework processes based on engineering instructions.
  • Conduct fiber optic cleaning, inspection, light loss testing, routing, and installation.
  • Perform bond and ground operations, including CRNs, jumpers, ground stud installation, and resistance testing.

Basic Qualifications

  • Student or recent graduate of a Boeing Pre-Employment Training (BPET) course certified for the Assembly Electrical Mechanic role.
  • Experience using software applications for internet navigation, email, Microsoft Office, or other specialized computer applications.
  • Experience interpreting blueprints, drawings, or specifications in English.
  • Experience in a technical or mechanical field performing work with hand, power, and pneumatic tools.
  • Experience working with wiring design drawings, system interconnects, wire routing, and equipment installation drawings.
  • Ability to carry or lift 10-35 pounds and perform required physical tasks.
  • Experience handling high-hazard chemicals.
  • Drug‑free workplace compliance.

Physical Demands

Requires flexion/extension, handling, kneeling, bending at the waist, reaching overhead, head/neck rotation, standing, twisting the waist, climbing and balancing stairs, ladders, poles, scaffolding, and inclined surfaces, crawling, and crouching. Must be able to carry or lift up to 35 pounds and work with High Hazard Chemicals.

Pay & Benefits

Pay range: $54,000 – $64,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications. Eligible employees may enroll in health insurance, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, retirement plans, life and disability insurance, and paid/unpaid time‑off programs.

  • Export control compliance: Must be a “U.S. Person” per 22 C.F.R. §120.15.
