Job Title: Facilities Plumber / PipefitterJob Summary
The Facilities Plumber / Pipefitter is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and modifying facility and process piping systems that support plant operations. This role ensures the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of plumbing, utility, and mechanical systems, including domestic water, sanitary sewer, stormwater, steam, compressed air, natural gas, and process piping. The position works closely with maintenance, engineering, contractors, and operations teams to minimize downtime and maintain compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, inspect, maintain, and repair plumbing and piping systems, including valves, fittings, fixtures, pumps, and related equipment.
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on domestic water, sanitary sewer, storm drainage, steam, condensate, compressed air, natural gas, and process piping systems.
- Diagnose and repair leaks, clogs, pressure issues, equipment failures, and system malfunctions.
- Read and interpret blueprints, plumbing schematics, P&IDs, isometric drawings, and technical specifications.
- Fabricate, cut, thread, bend, assemble, and install piping using carbon steel, stainless steel, copper, PVC, CPVC, PEX, and other piping materials.
- Perform pipe fitting, soldering, brazing, grooving, and welding activities as required and qualified.
- Install and maintain plumbing fixtures, water heaters, backflow preventers, pumps, drains, and related facility equipment.
- Support facility renovations, equipment installations, shutdowns, and emergency repairs.
- Conduct inspections to identify potential issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with plumbing codes, OSHA regulations, environmental requirements, and company safety policies.
- Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space, hot work, and other safety procedures.
- Coordinate work with contractors, vendors, and other maintenance trades.
- Maintain accurate work orders, maintenance records, and inspection documentation.
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Completion of a Plumbing or Pipefitter apprenticeship program, journeyman license, or equivalent experience preferred.
- 35 years of industrial, commercial, institutional, or manufacturing facility plumbing/pipefitting experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, piping systems, materials, and installation practices.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
- Experience with pipe fabrication, welding, brazing, and soldering preferred.
- Knowledge of applicable plumbing codes, safety standards, and maintenance procedures.
- Valid driver's license may be required.
