Position Summary
The Paramedic delivers Advanced Life Support emergency medical care at Fort Leavenworth Garrison around the clock. As the clinical lead of a two-person crew on a 48/96 schedule, you execute the full ALS scope — IV/IO access, pharmacology, advanced airway management, cardiac monitoring, and defibrillation — under Kansas protocols and Medical Director standing orders. This is a high-acuity, mission-critical role serving an active military installation that relies on EMS Unlimited as its sole ground ambulance provider.
Location Fort Leavenworth, KS — Fire Station #2
Schedule 48/96 rotating schedule
Employment Type Full-Time W-2 Employee
Reports To Senior Paramedic / On-Site Program Manager
Compensation
$80,000 annual equivalent
Health and Wellness benefit of $5.09/hr
This position is covered under the Service Contract Act (SCA), which requires EMS Unlimited to provide a Health & Welfare (H&W) benefit of $5.09 per hour worked. H&W is a federally mandated fringe benefit — it is not discretionary. The $5.09/hr can be applied in one of two ways: it can be directed toward your share of the company's medical benefits plan (health, dental, vision), effectively reducing or eliminating your out-of-pocket premium cost; or, if you waive employer-sponsored coverage and provide proof of other qualifying coverage, it can be paid to you as cash in lieu of benefits, added directly to your paycheck. Either way, you receive the full value — it is part of your total compensation, not a deduction from your base pay.
