Position Summary Paramedics are responsible for delivering emergency medical services to patients, the community, and healthcare facilities. They provide essential care for the sick and injured, administering medical treatment in both controlled and unpredictable environments. Strong communication skills and empathy are essential to effectively interact with patients and the community. Paramedics must have a comprehensive understanding of medical conditions, both chronic and acute, as well as Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) procedures within their scope of practice to ensure high-quality patient care.
Maximize unit productivity by ensuring timely log-ons, minimizing chute times through purposeful movement, adhering to CCEMSA policies to reduce scene time, and minimizing drop-off times with focused effort.
Strictly follow all American Ambulance and CCEMSA protocols, policies, and procedures to ensure high-quality patient care and operational standards.
Actively pursue opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in pre-hospital care, including staying current with medical advancements, best practices, and emerging trends in emergency medical services.
Maintain and care for equipment, vehicles, and facilities to the highest standards, treating all assets as if they are your own.
Maintain current licensure as a paramedic in the state of California and complete required continuing education units to meet EMSA and Title 22 standards.
Adhere to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with infection control policies and California Title 22 guidelines.
Perform medical procedures and interventions within the scope of practice, ensuring compliance with agency protocols and medical control.
Assist with the training, evaluation, and supervision of EMT and paramedic personnel for patient care and operational procedures.
Provide advanced life support (ALS) during critical medical situations, including trauma and cardiac emergencies.
Log on in a timely manner, ensuring adherence to shift schedules and responsibilities.
Adhere to safety rules and infection control protocols, maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor at all times when interacting with patients, colleagues, and the public.
Maintains a Professional Appearance at all times when representing American Ambulance.
Attend all training and meetings as required.
Maintain a positive attitude, exemplary conduct, and high morale, promoting a collaborative and supportive work environment for all personnel at American Ambulance.
Treats all patients, patient’s families and friends, health care agency personnel, and all members of the public with respect and professionalism.
High School Diploma or GED
Current California Licensed EMT-Paramedic
Current Fresno County Accredited EMT-Paramedic
PHTLS Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support Certification or equivalent – Provider or Instructor (not required for hire, must obtain within first year, does not have to remain current)
Meets Operations Fit for Duty Standards
Current California Ambulance Driver Certificate (preferred)
Current DOT Medical Examiner’s Card (preferred)
Meets insurability requirements for vehicle operation (preferred)

This is a full-time position. Shifts are typically 12 or 24 hours in duration.
Travel
Must be able to travel to assigned posts throughout Kings, Madera and Fresno Counties. There may be occasional travel for conferences, seminars, and training.
