Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA/COTA) – School-Based

We are currently seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA/COTA) for a school-based position for the 2026–2027 school year. Join a team that values integrity, professionalism, and your personal and professional growth.

Key Responsibilities

Student Services & Intervention

  • Implement occupational therapy treatment plans developed by and under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist
  • Provide direct therapy services to students in individual and group settings
  • Assist students in developing fine motor, sensory processing, self-help, visual-motor, and functional school participation skills
  • Support the use of adaptive equipment, assistive technology, and classroom accommodations
  • Monitor student progress and communicate observations to the supervising Occupational Therapist

Collaboration & Consultation

  • Collaborate with Occupational Therapists, teachers, administrators, and related service providers to support student success
  • Assist with implementing strategies and accommodations within educational environments
  • Communicate effectively with families and school personnel regarding student participation and progress
  • Participate in team meetings and IEP meetings as requested by the supervising Occupational Therapist
  • Support classroom staff in carrying out therapy recommendations and interventions

Professional Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including service logs, treatment notes, and Medicaid billing documentation (if applicable)
  • Adhere to Arkansas regulations and district policies regarding occupational therapy services
  • Travel between assigned school sites as needed
  • Participate in professional development and continuing education activities
  • Maintain ethical and professional standards consistent with AOTA guidelines and state regulations

Requirements

  • Associate Degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
  • Current Arkansas Occupational Therapy Assistant License issued by the Arkansas State Medical Board
  • Current NBCOT certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
  • Ability to work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist
  • Ability to travel between assigned school sites
  • Experience working with pediatric populations preferred
  • School-based experience preferred but not required

Skills & Qualifications

  • Knowledge of pediatric and school-based occupational therapy practices
  • Ability to effectively implement treatment plans and therapeutic activities
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience with adaptive equipment, sensory strategies, and assistive technology preferred
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and school staff
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and time-management skills

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Ability to lift, transfer, and position students, equipment, and materials (up to 50 lbs occasionally)
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, and floor-level activities
  • Use of adaptive, mobility, and therapeutic equipment
  • Work across classrooms, therapy rooms, playgrounds, community-based instruction sites, and other educational environments
