JOB SUMMARY:

Leads and coordinates all inventory control and related distribution activities within the Central Distribution Center. This role is responsible for ensuring inventory accuracy, operational efficiency, and team performance while supervising the Inventory Analyst and supporting broader distribution functions relating to inventory. The Inventory Team Lead drives improvements in processes, reporting, and cross-functional coordination to support safety, quality, service, and cost objectives.

This is an Inventory-Focused role.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Leadership & Operations

Provide daily communication, direction, and workload prioritization for inventory and distribution activities.

Supervise, train, and develop Inventory team members, ensuring strong performance, accuracy, and continuous skill growth.

Delegate responsibilities appropriately while reviewing work for completeness and accuracy.

Enforce company policies, safety standards, and housekeeping requirements; address performance concerns as needed.

Assign and coordinate personnel, support cross-training, and foster a motivated, high-performing team.

Support inbound/outbound operations, including load planning, organization for promotions/resets, and resolving fulfillment issues.

Maintain time, production, and departmental records while ensuring operational efficiency and equipment readiness.

Conduct safety oversight, risk assessments, and accident investigations as required.

Inventory Control, Accuracy & Improvement

Oversee cycle counts, inventory adjustments, and discrepancy resolution to ensure system accuracy.

Maintain accurate inventory across finished goods, WIP, returns, scrap, and supplies.

Ensure proper handling and system processing of receipts, put-away, returns, and damaged goods.

Manage inventory locations, picking efficiency, and warehouse organization.

Collaborate with Quality, Production, and other teams to resolve inventory and product issues.

Monitor key metrics (inventory accuracy, service levels, short shipments, past due orders) and drive improvements.

Review and approve Min/Max levels, inventory policies, and system updates.

Lead process improvements and special projects to optimize inventory control and reduce costs.

KNOWLEDGE OF:

Strong knowledge of inventory control principles, including cycle counting, reconciliation, and root cause analysis.

Knowledge of warehouse and distribution operations, including receiving, put-away, picking, shipping, and returns processing.

Understanding of inventory systems (ERP/WMS), inventory locator systems, and reporting tools.

Knowledge of Min/Max planning, inventory policies, and fulfillment strategies.

Leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to train, coach, and develop team members, including Inventory Analysts.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify trends and implement corrective actions.

Ability to interpret data, generate reports, and drive performance improvements based on key metrics.

Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments (Quality, Production, Logistics).

Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy in inventory management.

Ability to prioritize work, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Knowledge of safety practices, compliance standards, and risk management in a warehouse setting.

Continuous improvement mindset with the ability to lead process enhancements and special projects.
