About the Role Our client, a well-established and respected firm in the professional services industry, is actively seeking a dedicated Tax Accountant to join their thriving team. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with a deep understanding of federal, state, and local tax regulations. You will be working closely with senior tax professionals and contributing to strategic tax planning initiatives. This role is an on-site position, fostering strong team collaboration and direct mentorship opportunities within our Kansas City office. Key Responsibilities Prepare and file federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals and corporations. Conduct thorough tax research to ensure compliance with current legislation and identify potential tax savings. Respond to inquiries from tax authorities and manage audits effectively. Assist with tax planning strategies and projections for clients. Maintain accurate and organized tax records and documentation. Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations. Collaborate with other departments to gather necessary tax information. Identify opportunities for process improvements in tax preparation and filing. Ensure all tax-related activities adhere to ethical standards and professional best practices. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field; CPA or EA certification strongly preferred. 2-4 years of experience in tax preparation and compliance, with a focus on corporate and individual taxes. In-depth knowledge of U.S. tax laws and regulations. Proficiency in tax preparation software (e.g., ProSystem fx Tax, Lacerte) and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with clients and colleagues. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple tasks efficiently. Experience with tax research tools (e.g., CCH, BNA) is a plus.
