About This Position

The Phoenix Airport Museum is one of the largest airport art programs in the country. It manages an extensive art collection and aviation history archive and presents exhibitions throughout the entire Sky Harbor airport system.

The Aviation Department's Museum Section is seeking an experienced Museum professional to serve as the Administrative Assistant II (Associate Curator). This position will work closely with the Museum Manager and other staff members to lead and develop Museum exhibitions, outreach initiatives, and digital communications that further the Phoenix Airport Museum's mission to promote Arizona arts and culture. This position requires an accomplished, self-motivated, and collaborative leader who has the ability to work in a multifaceted and fast-paced department. The ideal candidate will have a proven knowledge of Arizona artists, Museum curation, social media communications, and enthusiasm for public outreach.

Responsibilities Of This Position Include

  • Assisting with developing and coordinating a multi-year changing exhibition schedule.
  • Curating accessible and diverse exhibitions in a public space that showcase Arizona's artistic and cultural resources.
  • Hands-on project management during installation of artwork and exhibitions.
  • Designing scale exhibition mockups.
  • Writing text panels and labels for exhibitions and public art.
  • Technical expert for large-scale art and exhibition coordination.
  • Conducting extensive internal and external community outreach.
  • Creating, planning, and presenting in-person and online presentations.
  • Leading programming initiatives to enhance and promote Museum exhibitions.
  • Conceptualizing and managing the Museum's social media presence.
  • Updating web content.

SALARY

Pay Range: $66,185 to $107,806 annually.

Hiring Range: $66,185 to $97,780 annually.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in public or business administration or a related field.
  • Three years of professional experience in public administration or governmental research or finance.
  • Other combinations of education and experience that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
  • Working irregular hours, second and/or third shifts, weekends, holidays, and evenings may be required.
