Plumbing Estimator - Commercial Mechanical Contractor
A leading mechanical contractor is seeking a Plumbing Estimator to join a growing preconstruction team supporting high-profile commercial projects. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate plumbing and mechanical take-offs from drawings, specifications, and BIM models
- Develop detailed cost estimates including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor pricing
- Analyze project requirements, identify risks, and build competitive bid strategies
- Collaborate closely with project managers, preconstruction teams, and clients during bid and budget phases
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor/vendor quotations and ensure scope coverage
- Support value engineering efforts to optimize cost and constructability
- Maintain strong documentation of estimates, assumptions, and bid clarifications
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of estimating experience within plumbing or mechanical construction
- Strong understanding of commercial plumbing systems (domestic water, sanitary, storm, medical gas a plus)
- Experience pricing projects across sectors such as healthcare, mission-critical, or large commercial builds
- Proficiency with take-off and estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, Trimble, Accubid, etc.)
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and BIM models (Revit exposure beneficial)
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally with operations teams
- Detail-oriented mindset with a proactive approach to problem solving
