The Plum Borough School District is seeking a compassionate, student-centered educator to serve as a Middle-Level Teacher/Special Education Teacher PK-12 at the middle level. This position plays a vital role in supporting students with diverse learning needs through inclusive practices, individualized instruction, and strong collaboration. The teacher blends instructional expertise with a deep commitment to student growth to ensure that every learner is supported and positioned for success.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide specially designed instruction aligned with IEPs in a middle-level/secondary setting.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers across content areas to support inclusion.
  • Implement and monitor academic and behavioral supports.
  • Use data to track student progress and inform instructional decisions.
  • Maintain accurate and compliant documentation of student services.
  • Participate in IEP meetings and communicate effectively with families and teams.
  • Foster a structured, supportive, and respectful classroom environment.

Qualifications

  • Pennsylvania Special Education PK-12 Certification (required).
  • At least one Pennsylvania middle-level and/or secondary content-area certification (required).
  • Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with middle-level or secondary students.
  • Familiarity with behavior support strategies and structured classroom environments.
  • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
