Medical Assistant Floater

Reports to: Office Manager/ Practice Administrator

Angel Kids Pediatrics is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant Floater to join our team based out of our corporate office in Jacksonville. This position provides clinical and administrative support across multiple clinic locations as needed and is responsible for assisting with patient care and supporting efficient clinic operations.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Greets, receives, and prepares patients for appointments and procedures; measures and records vital signs and other relevant patient information.
  • Responds to patient questions in person or by phone in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Assists in resolving patient concerns or complaints, using sound judgment and escalating issues to management when necessary.
  • Maintains nursing stations and examination areas in accordance with OSHA standards and Universal Precautions procedures.
  • Maintains inventory of medical supplies and equipment and reports shortages as needed.
  • Receives, screens, and appropriately directs telephone calls.
  • Demonstrates courtesy, tact, and professionalism when interacting with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Adapts to fluctuating patient volumes, acuity levels, and operational demands while maintaining quality patient care.
  • Reviews and records vaccine documentation, including vaccine reconciliation and verification.
  • Travels to all nine (9) Angel Kids Pediatrics clinic locations to provide staffing coverage and assist with patient care and clinic operations based on operational needs.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
  • Pediatric experience: 1 year preferred

  • High school diploma or GED required

Work Environment

This position operates in a professional medical office environment and in a fast-paced, highly customer service-oriented setting while working with children and their families or guardians.

The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers and laptops, as well as medical equipment.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally be required to stand, walk, sit, use a keyboard, handle or feel objects or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee may also balance, stoop, or kneel.

The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 20 pounds. This role may involve exposure to bloodborne and airborne pathogens or infectious materials. The work environment may include frequent loud noise such as crying, yelling, or screaming.
