The primary purpose of this position is to deliver crucial security and protection services to personnel and assets associated with Werner Enterprises. Key responsibilities include actively preventing risks associated with fire, water, electrical, and safety hazards, as well as theft, vandalism, and unauthorized access.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Conducts regular patrols and monitors the main office complex and nearby properties. (50%)
- Inspects doors, windows, and gates to ensure they are secured. (5%)
- Issues warnings for rule violations such as loitering, smoking, or missing employee badges, and documents incidents accordingly. (2%)
- Monitors for and reports any irregularities, including fire hazards, leaks, and unlocked security doors. (5%)
- Inspects security equipment for signs of tampering. (3%)
- Observes departing personnel to prevent the theft of company property. (10%)
- Initiates alarms or contacts emergency services in cases of fire or unauthorized presence. (5%)
- Records details related to property damage, unusual occurrences, and equipment malfunctions for supervisory review. (5%)
- Manages vehicle and pedestrian flow in main office parking areas. (5%)
- Escorts and assists employees, including escorting terminated personnel from the premises, and verifies visitor identification during all hours. (5%)
- Performs additional related duties as assigned by supervisory personnel. (5%)
- Must be armed at all times while on duty.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Proficient in PC operation, including Windows.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Holds a valid Nebraska CCW (concealed carry weapons) permit or is a certified Nebraska Law Enforcement Officer. The company may offer 30 days to obtain the necessary permit.
- Must demonstrate firearms safety and proficiency in quarterly firearms assessments with the Corporate Security Manager.
- Must successfully pass pre-employment drug screening, agility testing, firearms proficiency tests, psychological evaluations, and meet the company’s MVR and background check criteria.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent experience.
- Six months to one year of relevant experience in Military, Security, Law Enforcement, or Corrections is required.
- Six months of experience using PCs, including Windows.
- CPR certification preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Vision and hearing: Ability to read documents, view computer screens, and communicate effectively. (75-100%)
- Standing and walking capabilities. (75-100%)
- Ability to climb, stoop, squat, and kneel. (75-100%)
- Dexterity: Ability to use a phone, type, and write. (25-49%)
- Ability to lift items exceeding 10 pounds. (0-24%)
