Grounds Maintenance Supervisor - Building & Grounds

This is a full-time position with benefits. This position supervises and participates in the maintenance of county grounds.

Major Duties Include But Are Not Limited To

• Directs, assigns, supervises, and evaluates personnel.
• Plans projects and estimates material and labor needs.
• Coordinates activities with the county recreation department and with community and athletic associations.
• Prioritizes work schedules.
• Provides instruction and training in correct methods and procedures.
• Operates light and heavy machinery including commercial mowers, backhoes, tractors, weed eaters, blowers, and others.
• Supervises and participates in the application of herbicides and pesticides; maintains related records.
• Schedules employee training.
• Operates computers and job-related software.
• Inspects the work of ground crews and contractors.
• Determines proper fertilization requirements for sports fields and county grounds.
• Enforces safety procedures.
• Reviews and approves or disapproves new landscape plans.
• Troubleshoots irrigation problems; recommends watering schedules.
• Supervises and participates in the installation of landscaping.
• Assists in the department hiring process.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education.
• Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one to three years’ experience or service.
• Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's licenses issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.

Starting Salary - $52,954.36
