Job Overview
Jensen Hughes is seeking a dynamic Market Director, Accessibility Consulting to lead and grow our accessibility consulting practice within the built environment. This role combines strategic leadership, client relationship management, operational oversight, and technical consulting expertise to drive business growth and deliver exceptional client outcomes.
Reporting to senior leadership, the Market Director will focus on expanding accessibility consulting services, fostering collaboration across multidisciplinary teams, and supporting high-quality project delivery while maintaining strong client partnerships and operational excellence.
Ideally, this role will be based in Chicago, IL or Midwest, though other locations (including Remote) may be considered for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Growth Client Development
Lead operational sales efforts aligned with regional and company growth strategies.
Drive business development initiatives by cultivating client relationships and identifying new market opportunities.
Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, building owners, developers, architects, contractors, and engineers regarding accessibility compliance and best practices.
Project Leadership Technical Consulting
Lead and manage accessibility consulting engagements across a broad range of project types and industries.
Conduct accessibility compliance inspections for residential, commercial, institutional, and government projects.
Provide accessibility plan review services throughout all phases of design and construction.
Develop and deliver training sessions and educational presentations on accessibility-related topics for internal and external audiences.
Maintain technical expertise by performing billable consulting work and delivering high-quality project outcomes.
Operations Team Collaboration
Collaborate with accessibility consultants, architects, engineers, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive solutions.
Support project execution, resource planning, budgeting, and overall operational performance.
Promote a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team environment.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
10+ years of professional experience in accessibility consulting, architecture, engineering, or related consulting services.
Strong knowledge of accessibility-related design and construction regulations including ADA, ABA, FHA, IBC, IEBC, and ICC A117.1.
Experience working with state-specific accessibility standards preferred, including MAAB 521 CMR.
Proven track record in technical consulting, client relationship management, and business development within professional services.
Strong leadership, communication, presentation, and project management skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively while driving operational results.
Self-motivated team player with strong personal and professional ethics.
Preferred certifications include APAC-BE, ICC Accessibility Inspector and Plans Examiner, or other state-recognized accessibility certifications.
Additional Requirements:
Travel up to 25% as needed for client meetings, site assessments, and project collaboration.
Ability to perform on-site assessments, including walking active job sites, climbing stairs, bending, and standing for extended periods.
