Key Responsibilities

In your role as a Medical Laboratory Technologist, you will be responsible for a variety of essential tasks, including:

• Assessing the acceptability of specimens for testing based on established criteria, ensuring quality control before processing.
• Conducting both routine and complex laboratory tests with precision according to our departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Operating, monitoring, and troubleshooting sophisticated laboratory instrumentation to maintain optimal function levels and performance.
• Making independent technical decisions regarding testing protocols and addressing issues as they arise, demonstrating critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Preparing, testing, and evaluating new reagents and controls, contributing to the innovation of laboratory practices.
• Providing accurate and timely reporting of test results to support effective patient care management.
• Performing and documenting preventive maintenance and quality control procedures to uphold safety and quality standards.
• Restocking and organizing testing bench supplies, ensuring efficient workflow during laboratory operations.
• Assisting with specimen processing when required, maintaining flexibility and responsiveness in a busy lab setting.
• Adhering to all safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment, to maintain a safe working environment.

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field.
• A valid state licensure or eligibility to operate as a Medical Technologist in accordance with Chapter 483.
• Licensure in relevant specialties such as Microbiology, Serology/Immunology, Immunohematology, Clinical Chemistry, or Hematology depending on the lab's focus.
• A minimum of two years of experience as a Medical Technologist.
• Strong interpersonal skills, allowing for effective communication with colleagues and clinical staff.
• Competence with laboratory information systems and basic computer skills to manage data effectively.

Preferred Experience

While not mandatory, experience in a hospital setting and familiarity with high-complexity testing methodologies will elevate your application. Additionally, proficiency in clinical laboratory software and instrumentation will be advantageous.
