Essential Job Functions:
- Assist the Department Manager in organizing work, filling department staffing needs as authorized by store management, and training and scheduling associates so that customers are consistently provided with prompt courteous service.
- Respond appropriately to customer or associate comments, complaints, requests, accidents, and questions. Be prompt, tactful, calm, courteous, and professional in all interactions.
- Use Computer Assisted Ordering (CAO) to manage ordering appropriate quantities of merchandise and supplies, and insure proper accounting of product received and balance on hand.
- Perform and direct others in pricing and displaying of merchandise. Maintain proper signage, product rotation, freshness, quantity & quality.
- Prepare bakery items including cakes, tortillas, pastries, cookies by shaping/forming, baking, decorating.
- Maintain display kiosks around bakery by stocking product, rotating product, and marking product with prices
- Clean and maintain work area.
- Receive product and stock in freezer, cooler, or supply areas.
- Operate register when necessary.
- Engage yourself and counsel associates in effective, productive merchandising techniques, customer services, product presentation, and promotional activities.
- Follow through on implementation of company programs and adherence to company policies & procedures, particularly in the areas of dress code, grooming, food safety, sanitation, and maintenance of a work environment free of unlawful harassment or discrimination.
- Provide input on department budgets, goals, & results. Utilize empowerment to maximize department and store sales and profits.
- Communicate & interact with employees and customers to provide a positive impression.
- Explain standards of performance to employees and work with them in achieving them. Conduct performance reviews on a timely basis and continually coach associates to improve performance in accordance with direction from store management.
- Maintain equipment and facilities properly and safely in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Assist as needed or assigned on special projects such as periodic inventories, store resets, remodels, catering, weddings, events, etc.
- Demonstrate the ability and desire to promote, communicate and implement company initiatives and process improvements to direct reports in a positive manner.
- Perform any and all duties as assigned.
Physical Demands:
- Standing & Walking – Frequent standing & walking. Estimated total time 7.5 hrs. Maximum continuous time up to 4 hrs.
- Sitting – Rarely required. Estimated total time 30 mins. Maximum continuous time 30 mins.
- Lifting & Carrying – Max weight 50 lbs., average weight 10-15 lbs., distance carried 1-5 feet. Must frequently lift items under 10 lbs. and items between 11-25 lbs., and occasionally lift 26-75 lbs.
- Climbing – Frequently climb step ladder or step stool ranging from 1.5 feet to 3 feet tall.
- Other – This position also requires frequent bending, squatting, and kneeling, as well as constant use of either arm or both for reaching in all directions. Other requirements include twisting, neck flexion/extension, cervical rotation, frequent forearm movement, and frequent or sustained awkward wrist positions.
- Work Conditions – Exposure to hot and cold temperatures, sudden changes in temperature, cramped quarters & sharp edges.
