Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Sit Down Forklift Operator to join our dynamic team. This role is essential for efficiently managing the movement, loading, and unloading of materials within our distribution center. The ideal candidate will possess strong warehouse experience, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to safety standards. As a key player in our logistics operations, you will play a crucial role in maintaining smooth warehouse distribution processes and ensuring timely order fulfillment.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate sit-down forklifts, including lift trucks, Hi-Lo, clamp trucks, and reach trucks, to load and unload materials from trucks and storage areas
• Conduct routine inspections and basic maintenance of heavy equipment to ensure optimal operation and safety compliance
• Utilize warehouse management systems (WMS) to track inventory movements accurately
• Assist with order picking using various equipment such as order pickers and pallet jacks to fulfill shipping requirements
• Handle materials with precision, ensuring proper stacking, storage, and retrieval in accordance with safety protocols
• Support shipping and receiving activities by verifying shipments against documentation and preparing items for dispatch
• Perform heavy lifting tasks safely while adhering to OSHA standards and company safety policies
• Collaborate with warehouse supervisors to optimize storage space and improve workflow efficiency
• Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, repairs needed, and inventory movements
• Participate in ongoing safety training sessions to uphold workplace safety standards

Experience

• Proven experience operating sit-down forklifts and heavy equipment such as reach trucks, clamp trucks, Hi-Lo forklifts, and pallet jacks within a warehouse or distribution environment
• Knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory control procedures
• Familiarity with OSHA safety regulations related to forklift operation and materials handling
• Previous experience in shipping & receiving, order picking, and warehouse distribution processes
• Mechanical knowledge for basic equipment repair and troubleshooting is advantageous
• Strong understanding of warehouse procedures including load & unload operations, heavy lifting techniques, and materials handling best practices
• Basic math skills for inventory counts, measurements, and documentation accuracy
• Warehouse supervisor experience or familiarity with warehouse management system operations is a plus
