We are seeking a Software Engineer to join our Technology organization, supporting the HEDIS and quality measurement ecosystem. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys building data-centric solutions in a regulated environment and turning complex healthcare data into reliable, consumable assets.
In this role, you will design and develop software that supports the ingestion, transformation, and movement of HEDIS-related data across systems. You’ll partner closely with clinical, quality, and analytics teams to ensure data pipelines are accurate, auditable, and fit for downstream measurement and reporting.
What You’ll Do
Design, develop, and maintain data-focused software solutions supporting HEDIS and quality initiatives
Build and support data integrations and pipelines using APIs, automation, and event-driven patterns
Transform and model data with a data-as-a-product mindset, ensuring quality, traceability, and usability
Collaborate with Technology and business partners to translate quality requirements into scalable technical solutions
Ensure solutions meet Wellmark engineering, security, and compliance standards
What You Bring
Experience in software and data engineering (APIs, integrations, ETL/ELT patterns)
Strong automation and scripting skills (Python, PowerShell, JavaScript, or similar)
Familiarity with working in regulated or data-intensive environments
A collaborative approach and the ability to build solutions that balance technical rigor with business needs.
Proficiency in HROR highly preferred
You will contribute to the design and delivery of efficient, maintainable, and secure software solutions that support Wellmark’s HEDIS data workflows and Technology strategy.
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field of study and at least 1 year of software development experience (ex. Angular, NodeJS, TypeScript, C++, .NET, Java, SQL) OR 5+ years of related and applicable experience.
Strong analytical problem-solving skills. Accuracy and high attention to detail. Previous experience troubleshooting and developing creative technical solutions.
Strong ability to gather information, perform necessary research needed for root cause analysis, problem definition and formulation, recommend solution implementation, verification, and ongoing optimization, using data to support recommendations.
Demonstrated ability to build relationships to reach outcomes that gain the support and acceptance of all parties. Ability to communicate key information in a timely manner to the appropriate stakeholder audience with the ability to adjust communication style that will best suit the audience.
Ability to communicate with and coach/mentor team members, while setting an example in maintaining a positive attitude, staying calm under pressure, being approachable, and respectful and taking responsibility when needed.
Ability to thrive in fast-paced environment with changing priorities. Excellent organizational skills. Strong time management skills with the ability to set and meet established timeframes with little direction, while assuring data and information integrity.

Ability to support and work within a diverse development team model including global staffing, crowd sourcing, etc.
Preferred
Proven experience working in an Agile development environment.
Experience partnering with global staffing vendors to deliver value.
Hands-on experience designing and building ETL pipelines and data integration solutions using Informatica IDMC and PowerCenter or other similar tools.
Solid understanding of SQL and data processing across diverse data sources.
Preferred experience with healthcare data, analytics, or HEDIS reporting.
Familiarity with cloud platforms AWS preferred and modern data engineering and automation practices.
Practical experience working with AWS S3 and cloud-based data workflows.
Experience working with APIs to fetch, integrate, and process data from external and internal systems.
Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle, including testing and documentation best practices.
Experience using GitHub for source control and collaborative development.
Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and adapt to new tools and technologies.
