Overview

The landscape truck driver will provide landscape maintenance support to industrial, commercial, and/or public properties. This role operates commercial-grade landscaping equipment and ensures upkeep of plant material and other landscaping elements in a safe manner.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare Landscape Trucks for the day, including loading gas cans, mowers, and other equipment onto trucks/trailers.
  • Secure all equipment onto trucks/trailers and maintain/use issued personal protective equipment.
  • Safely operate the vehicle in accordance with all traffic laws.
  • Perform maintenance on properties, including mowing turf with various mowers, edging along curbs and walkways, blowing leaves and clippings, pruning shrubs and trees, clearing debris, pulling weeds, and cleaning the site.
  • Perform plantings and flower installation, including soil preparation, proper planting depth/spacing, mulching, watering, and edging beds.
  • Maintain equipment, including unloading from BrightView trucks/trailers, washing equipment, changing blades and oil, cleaning air filters, greasing machines, and conducting EDVIR on assigned vehicles.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • Valid Driver’s license.
  • Some experience in lawn care.
  • Ability to operate various lawn care machinery (mowers, edgers, backpack blowers).
  • Ability to operate various vehicles, with or without trailers.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish highly preferred, but not required.

Physical Demands/ Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (mulch, fertilizer, etc.).
  • Walk up to 10 miles a day, sometimes uphill and on uneven terrain, often while carrying, pushing, or pulling equipment/materials.
  • Must be at least 18 years old (21 if operating company provided vehicles).
  • Strong stamina and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions including extreme heat and cold.
  • Able to operate landscaping equipment (mowers, trimmers, blowers, edgers) and to bend, stop, and twist throughout the day while performing manual labor.
  • Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (safety shoes, high-visibility clothing, hand/eye/ hearing protection, head protection).
  • For BrightView fleet vehicle operators: valid driver’s license and state motor vehicle record checks as required by company standards.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends or holidays if needed.
  • Ability to maintain required medications to address known allergies, if applicable.

Work Environment

  • Work outdoors and indoors in a range of weather conditions (including extreme heat and cold).
  • Work outdoors near traffic, water, fumes, dust, hazards, and in environments with loud noise.
  • Exposure to allergens such as pollen and ragweed, insects, and reptiles as applicable.
