Job Summary

Under the direction of the Visual and Performing Arts Administrator or designee, work closely with both certificated staff and students to foster a creative and enriching learning environment across various arts disciplines including dance, theater, visual arts, media arts, and music. Support instructional activities, facilitate expression, and contribute to the development of our students’ artistic skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with educators to provide engaging arts instruction for individual students and small groups through demonstrations, examples, and feedback.
  • Guide students in understanding and applying discipline-specific arts terminology and concepts.
  • Participate in and conduct demonstrations in dance, theatre, visual arts, media arts, and music.
  • Operate and manage audio/visual equipment and other instructional technology.
  • Train and supervise students in the safe and effective use of specialized arts equipment and materials.
  • Assist with administrative responsibilities, including preparing instructional materials, maintaining attendance and grade records, and completing other assigned duties.

Knowledge and Skills

Successful candidates should demonstrate knowledge of arts terminology, materials, and equipment; dance, theatre, visual arts, media arts, and music; basic instructional support practices; and techniques for assisting students in developing artistic and musical skills. Candidates should also be able to communicate effectively, work collaboratively, prepare instructional materials, maintain records, and establish positive working relationships with students and staff.

Requirements / Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma (Attach a copy of the certificate or official transcripts)
  • A minimum of an Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree or 48 semester units from a college/university, or pass the District proficiency test. (Attach official or unofficial transcripts)
  • Minimum of one (1) year of work experience assisting students in an arts-related position.
  • Experience with planning and organizing arts activities.
  • Resume (desirable)

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Attach a copy of a Valid California driver’s license
  • Attach a copy of a Valid CPR and First Aid Certification desirable.
