Summary

The Lead Optician will act as a mentor to all opticians helping to improve the department in patient satisfaction and overall skill sets.

Supervisory responsibilities

Essential functions

The following list is a summary of the key functions of the job and may not be inclusive of all duties assigned.

Train and mentor both new and current opticians to ensure proper optical skills, salesmanship expertise, patient satisfaction, and organization of supplies within the department.

Lead the team to ensure proper frame board management execution.

Present new solutions to optical management in regards to staffing, sales, teambuilding, training, and patient satisfaction.

Properly operate manual or auto lensometer and other tools to determine patient eyewear needs.

Interprets prescription and takes correct measurements for eyewear solutions.

Utilizes assigned software system to input patient information, orders, and billing of insurance.

Communicates information regarding products and services accurately to patients and their advocates.

Discusses lens and comfort options with patients based on their selection, offering guidance as needed.

Orders eyewear and contacts and keeps patients informed of order status.

Conducts final inspection of eyewear and contact lens orders and notifies patients when order is ready for pick-up.

Maintains knowledge of all lens, frames, accessories, and insurances as necessary.

Bills insurance orders, collect payments, and/or escorts patients to check-out for deposit or final payment as necessary.

Follows and achieves defined sales goals on monthly, quarterly, and annual intervals.

Maintains patient service standards by working out of any assigned L.O. Eye Care office as needed.

Maintains patient confidentiality.

Cleans, organizes, and maintains presentability of sales floor, displays, and patient areas.

Conduct contact lens training classes.

Must be able to walk, stand, and move around for the majority of the day; may be required to lift equipment up to 50 pounds and assist patients with physical mobility

Must be able to sit for prolonged periods, must be able to use eyes, hands, and body to maintain office dexterity and mobility; may be required to lift typical office equipment up to 20 pounds

May be sedentary for prolonged periods; may experience repetitive movements in fingers, wrists, hands, typical of an office environment

Travel required

0-25% travel required, additional travel may be assigned as needed

Education and experience

Educational requirements that are job-related and consistent with business necessity
