\r\n\r\n\r\nThe State of Connecticut Department of Transportation (DOT), is currently recruiting for an Associate Accountant position in the Bureau of Finance and Administration, Office of Finance, Division of Financial Management and Support. \r\nThe Office of Finance is comprised of three divisions (Budge Services, Capital Services, and Financial Management & Support) that provide business and financial support, budgeting, accounting, accounts receivable, and Federal and State funding management necessary to meet the needs of CTDOT. CTDOT was recently awarded the Employer of the Year award by the Connecticut Society of Civil Engineers (CSCE) and named the Women's Transportation Seminar (WTS) CT Employer of the Year for 2024!\r\n\r\nPOSITION HIGHLIGHTS\r\n\r\n Monday - Friday\r\n Full Time, 40 hours per week\r\n First Shift\r\n Location: Headquarters in Newington, CT\r\n Hybrid (in-office/telework) and alternate work schedules may be available\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nTHE ROLE\r\nThe Associate Accountant position provides financial support for the Office of Policy and Planning. The role provides high-level accounting and budgeting services for the Highway Safety Office (HSO). The HSO funds and produces extensive research projects exploring traffic safety issues, crashes, fatalities, and driver behavior. HSO programs are funded or subsidized by the National Highway Traffic Safety Office (NHTSA).\r\nThe position will report directly to the unit supervisor and will be responsible for complex financial assignments and overseeing staff. The position will also plan, assign, and review the work of professional-level employees. The selected candidate should have excellent communication and organizational skills as well as the ability to build and maintain professional working relationships with internal staff within the Department and external third parties.\r\nThe Associate Accountant's responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n Highway Safety Grants, the eGrants System, and the invoicing system\r\n Highway Safety Plan Budgets\r\n Grant Review\r\n Reimbursement Review & Vouchering\r\n Monthly, Quarterly, and Yearly Reports \r\n Supervision and Training\r\n Other related Financial duties as assigned\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nABOUT US\r\n\r\nAs one of Connecticut’s largest State agencies, DOT employs approximately 3,300 individuals statewide in five bureaus.
