Part-Time Independent Bookkeeper (Remote 1099 Contractor)
Location: Phoenix, AZ. Remote with occasional in-person meetings
Hours: Approximately 10–15 hours per week with a flexible schedule
Compensation: $45-$65/hour based on experience

We are a growing, family-owned audio/video integration company specializing in custom residential and commercial technology solutions. We take pride in delivering exceptional service to our clients and are looking for an organized, detail-oriented accounting professional to become an integral part of our team.
This is a long-term independent contractor (1099) opportunity who manages their own business or serves multiple clients. The role is primarily remote with flexible hours with occasional in-person meetings. The contractor will work closely with the business owner on day-to-day accounting and administrative activities while partnering with our Fractional CFO for onboarding, monthly financial review, and ongoing process improvements.

Position Summary
The Part-Time Bookkeeper will be responsible for managing the company's day-to-day accounting operations, maintaining accurate financial records, supporting project billing, and ensuring timely completion of routine financial tasks. This individual should be self-motivated, highly organized, and able to work independently while communicating effectively with both the owner and CFO.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage daily bookkeeping using QuickBooks Online
- Process customer invoices, including project and progress billing
- Monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding customer balances
- Enter vendor bills, process accounts payable, and prepare payments
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and loan accounts
- Coordinate payroll processing and maintain payroll records
- Prepare and file sales tax returns
- Assist with job costing and project financial tracking
- Maintain organized electronic accounting records and documentation
- Prepare monthly financial reports and supporting schedules
- Work with the CFO during month-end close and financial review
- Assist with budgeting, cash flow tracking, and financial reporting as requested
- Recommend improvements to accounting processes and internal controls
- Provide occasional administrative and office management support as needed
- Communicate proactively with the owner and CFO regarding outstanding accounting issues, cash flow concerns, or customer collection matters.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of bookkeeping or full-charge bookkeeping experience
- Strong proficiency with QuickBooks Online (required)
- Experience with project-based, construction, contractor, or service businesses strongly preferred
- Understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, payroll, and sales tax reporting
- Experience with progress billing and job costing is highly desirable
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
- Professional communication skills and a customer-service mindset
- High level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality
