What you’ll do
We're looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Power Distribution Engineer to join our engineering team. In this role, you'll own the design and customization of power distribution products — including switchboards, PDUs, and RPPs — from concept to manufacturing release. You'll leverage your CAD expertise and deep knowledge of UL standards to develop mechanical and electrical prints that meet rigorous quality and safety benchmarks. If you thrive in a fast-paced, cross-cultural environment and enjoy bringing electrical infrastructure to life, this is the role for you.
Where you’ll work
If based outside of our Houston, Long Beach or San Francisco hubs, this role will be based remotely from your home office. You must be willing to occasionally travel once a quarter.
Responsibilities
Customize switchboard, PDU, and RPP designs based on customer specifications and project requirements
Create detailed mechanical and electrical CAD drawings in SolidWorks, adhering to UL 891, UL 67, and other applicable standards
Maintain up-to-date design documentation and clearly communicate changes to relevant stakeholders
Review and verify all drawings to ensure clarity, manufacturability, and alignment with technical requirements
Troubleshoot design issues during production in collaboration with manufacturing teams
Manage multiple design projects simultaneously and deliver on deadlines
Communicate effectively across time zones to align technical deliverables and resolve any issues quickly
Requirements
Degree or certification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
3+ years of experience in a sheet metal manufacturing environment
Proficiency in CAD tools, particularly SolidWorks
Demonstrated experience designing UL 891-compliant low-voltage switchboards
Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, tolerances, and material specifications
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially when coordinating with international teams
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects at once
Bonus points
Familiarity with UL 67, UL 1561, or medium voltage switchgear design
Experience with PDU or RPP design, including branch circuit protection, busbar sizing, and downstream power distribution
Familiarity with Annex G of UL 891
Experience using PDM systems for CAD file management (SolidWorks PDM)
Background working with international or cross-functional teams in a startup or fast-paced environment
Understanding of modular data center or critical power infrastructure products, including rack-level PDUs and remote power panels
Benefits
Subsidized health, dental, and vision insurance
Equity (options) in a rapidly growing startup
401(k) with 4% employer match
Unlimited PTO
Parental leave
Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA)
Commuter benefits
Monthly team onsites where all offices come in-person to collaborate
Who we hire
We hire people who thrive in chaos and get sharper under pressure. You don't wait to be told what to do, you spot the gap and fill it. When there's work to be done, you do it. You make decisions with the information you have, move fast, and adjust along the way. We're not looking for perfect; we're looking for people who get things done.
