Job Title: Teacher Floater

Schedule: 8:00 am-5:00 pm and or 9:00 am-6:00 pm

Employment Type: Full-Time

Job Summary

The Teacher Floater supports the daily operations of the center by assisting in multiple classrooms and providing coverage where needed. This role works with children ranging from 3 weeks to 12 years old, helping maintain a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment. The Teacher Floater must be flexible, dependable, and able to adapt to different age groups and classroom needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide classroom coverage for lead and assistant teachers during breaks, planning periods, and absences
  • Support children’s learning, play, and daily routines in classrooms serving infants through school-age children (3 weeks–12 years old)
  • Assist with supervision, transitions, meals, diapering, nap time, and outdoor activities
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe classroom environment
  • Follow lesson plans and classroom schedules provided by teaching staff
  • Build positive relationships with children, families, and team members
  • Observe and report children’s progress, behavior, and needs to the lead teacher or director
  • Ensure all licensing, health, and safety policies are followed at all times
  • Assist with preparation of classroom materials and activities
  • Adapt quickly to different classrooms and age groups throughout the day
  • Safely transport children when required using the center’s 12-passenger van
  • Follow all transportation safety procedures and school policies when driving

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • CDA, ECE coursework, or early childhood experience preferred
  • Prior experience in private schools or daycare centers is preferred but not required
  • Must pass a clear background check and meet all state licensing requirements
  • Must have CPR & First Aid Certification for Infant, Child, and Adult verified
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Must be able to drive a 12-passenger van and meet transportation safety requirements
  • Provide proof of immunizations required for individuals working with children, including:

o Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis)

o MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)

o Varicella (Chickenpox) – vaccination or proof of immunity

  • Influenza (Flu vaccine) – recommended annually
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Flexible, dependable, and able to move between classrooms as needed
  • Patient, nurturing attitude and commitment to child safety

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift 25–40 pounds
  • Ability to actively supervise children indoors and outdoors
  • Ability to care for infants including lifting, diapering, and feeding when needed
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced childcare environment

Work Hours

  • Monday through Friday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm and or 9:00 am-6:00 pm
