About the position

St. James School is seeking a PE/Health Teacher for the 2026/2027 school year. This is a full-time position. The teacher will be responsible for assisting students in mastering PE and Health skills and information, while also helping them grow in faith and responsibility. The role involves integrating Catholic teachings and virtues into the curriculum and school culture, understanding student learning and development, and planning and delivering effective instruction. Collaboration with students, parents, colleagues, and the community is also a key aspect of the position.

Responsibilities

  • Assist students in mastering the skills and information in the school curriculum.
  • Help students grow in faith and responsibility.
  • Contribute to the integration of Catholic teachings and virtues throughout the curriculum and school culture.
  • Understand student learning, development, and faith formation.
  • Plan and deliver effective instruction that advances the learning of each individual student.
  • Create Christ-centered learning environments that promote high levels of learning and achievement for all students.
  • Collaborate and communicate with students, parents, other educators, administrators, and the faith community.
  • Assume responsibility for professional academic/spiritual growth, performance, and involvement.

Requirements

  • Hold an appropriate Ohio Teaching License (Professional, Permanent, or Resident Educator) or be eligible to obtain one before beginning to teach.
  • Current satisfactory BCI & FBI background checks.
  • Have attended or be willing to attend a Virtus Protecting God's Children training.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Appropriate state certification/license as required by the grade levels and subjects taught.
  • Religious Education certification as required by the diocese.
