Construction Equipment Technician

Reporting to: Service Manager

Department: Service

Responsibilities

  • Perform all levels of repair and preventive maintenance on full line of construction equipment
  • Diagnostic and troubleshooting for both minor and major repairs
  • Build and maintain customer, vendor, and factory relationships
  • Perform repairs within established labor time guides
  • Achieve over 90% efficiency rating while maintaining quality of workmanship
  • Create detailed parts and labor repair scopes for quoting
  • Read and understand electrical and hydraulic schematics, technical blueprints, service and parts diagrams
  • Be a self-starter with ability to prioritize tasks, stay organized, and work with minimal supervision, and communicate well with the Service and Parts Teams
  • Be willing to work overtime if needed and be on a rotating on-call list
  • Perform pre and post trip inspections on service trucks per DOT regulations
  • Possess or be able to obtain a Class A CDL
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3-5 years’ experience as a preventative maintenance technician with construction equipment
  • 2-4 years’ experience as construction equipment technician
  • Ability to follow Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) specifications
  • Advanced diagnostics and troubleshooting capabilities for all major and minor repairs of construction equipment
  • Experience with Develon, Liebherr and Takeuchi products preferred
  • Excellent knowledge and experience in the following areas:
  • Hydraulics
  • Electrical Systems
  • Various Diesel Engines

Basic Qualifications

  • 2+ Years of Construction Equipment Repair Experience
  • Possession of or ability to obtain Class A CDL
  • Mechanical Aptitude
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to provide basic hand tools
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Critical Thinking, Trouble-Shooting and Problem-Solving Skills
  • Stamina, attention to detail and safety awareness
  • Vocational Training or Apprenticeship

Work Conditions

This position regularly requires walking, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, kneeling and climbing stairs. It also often requires pushing, pulling, twisting, lifting 50+ lbs and working in a variety of weather conditions and noise levels. Employees may be assigned other tasks as needed.
