Position Summary

The Senior SEC Reporting Accountant will play a key role in the preparation of quarterly and annual SEC filings, earnings releases, GAAP and non-GAAP disclosures, technical accounting research, SOX documentation, audit support, and financial reporting process improvements.

This role is ideal for someone coming from public accounting, SEC reporting, technical accounting, corporate accounting, audit, or financial reporting who wants exposure to a publicly traded company environment.

The ideal candidate will have strong U.S. GAAP knowledge, excellent attention to detail, strong writing skills, and the ability to work cross-functionally with accounting, finance, legal, HR, external auditors, and senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation and coordination of quarterly and annual SEC filings, including Forms 10-Q, 10-K, earnings releases, and related financial disclosures.
  • Prepare and manage sections of the SEC reporting process using Workiva or similar reporting tools.
  • Support the preparation of GAAP and non-GAAP financial information included in earnings releases and public filings.
  • Assist with quarterly and annual GAAP disclosure checklists to ensure compliance with SEC reporting requirements.
  • Review monthly business results and help draft MD&A commentary explaining material changes in financial performance.
  • Partner with accounting, finance, legal, HR, external auditors, outside counsel, and third-party service providers to gather and validate financial reporting information.
  • Assist with the review process for SEC filings, including managing comments, updates, support schedules, and documentation.
  • Support stock transactions, share-based compensation reporting, and quarterly EPS calculations.
  • Perform technical accounting research and draft accounting memorandums documenting company accounting conclusions.
  • Monitor changes in SEC, U.S. GAAP, and financial reporting requirements and assist with implementation of new disclosure requirements.
  • Draft and update footnote disclosures as business activities and regulatory requirements evolve.
  • Maintain complete documentation and audit support for SEC filings, quarterly reviews, annual audits, and interim reporting.
  • Support SOX compliance, including control documentation, SOX 302 certification processes, related-party surveys, and internal/external control testing.
  • Assist with proxy-related schedules in partnership with HR and Legal.
  • Support annual LTIP grant award reporting and other equity-related financial reporting matters.
  • Drive continuous improvement in SEC reporting processes, controls, documentation, and reporting efficiency.
  • Participate in special projects and other corporate accounting initiatives as needed.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
  • 3–5 years of relevant accounting, audit, SEC reporting, technical accounting, or public company reporting experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP.
  • Exposure to SEC reporting, 10-Q, 10-K, earnings releases, MD&A, footnotes, or financial statement disclosures is strongly preferred.
  • Public accounting experience with SEC clients is a plus.
  • CPA license or CPA eligibility preferred.
  • Experience with Workiva is a plus.
  • Strong writing skills with the ability to explain technical accounting and business results clearly.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage deadlines in a quarterly reporting environment.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with accounting, finance, legal, HR, auditors, and executive leadership.
  • Strong Excel skills and comfort working with financial reporting systems.
  • Experience with SOX controls, audit support, technical accounting memos, EPS, stock compensation, or proxy support is a plus.
