Overview

Porchlamp Property Management is seeking a reliable and skilled Maintenance Technician to help maintain the residential properties we manage. This role involves completing repairs, preparing homes for new residents, and helping ensure our properties stay in excellent condition.

The ideal candidate enjoys solving problems, takes pride in quality work, and communicates well with residents and our team.

Our office is located in Grand Rapids, but many of the homes we manage are in the Muskegon area. Travel time beyond your normal commute is compensated.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance and repairs at single-family homes and duplexes
  • Complete make-ready repairs and maintenance between residents
  • Respond to and complete resident maintenance work orders
  • Conduct annual property inspections
  • Provide estimates for repair work
  • Troubleshoot maintenance issues and recommend solutions
  • Maintain clear communication with property managers and residents

Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in general maintenance or handyman work
  • Working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical, and home repairs
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Strong communication and professionalism with residents
  • Reliable transportation and personal tools required
  • Basic technology skills (email, simple time tracking software, work order tracking)

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently, solving problems, and taking ownership of repairs from diagnosis through completion.
