WHAT YOU WILL DO:

EOS IT Solutions is seeking highly skilled and adaptable Data Center Surge Technicians to join a centralized travel team supporting data center operations across North America.

This team is deployed to support new site turn-ups, large-scale infrastructure deployments, SLA recovery efforts, and critical operational gaps . Technicians are expected to operate in fast-paced, high-pressure environments and deliver immediate impact with minimal onboarding.

Travel Compensation:

This position requires frequent travel to project sites and data centers. Candidates who enjoy traveling and working in different environments will thrive in this role. To recognize the commitment, we offer a $250 weekly travel bonus , paid in addition to base wages.

Deployment Scope

Surge Technicians are deployed based on business need, including:

New data center builds, expansions, and site turn-ups

High-volume deployment events (rack lands, infrastructure scaling)

SLA recovery scenarios (backlog reduction, performance stabilization)

Temporary coverage for staffing gaps or critical skill shortages

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Deployment Infrastructure Execution

Execute high-volume rack and stack deployments in live and non-live environments

Install, terminate, and manage fiber (single-mode and multi-mode) and copper cabling systems

Perform fiber splicing, cleaning, testing, and troubleshooting , including OTDR testing and fault isolation

Support physical infrastructure builds including cable routing, ladder racking, and power distribution

Read and validate port maps, rack elevations, and infrastructure designs

Repair Break/Fix Operations

Diagnose and repair hardware issues across servers, switches, and network components

Replace defective components (PSUs, NICs, fans, etc.) with minimal disruption

Execute live service swaps and support production environments under SLA constraints

Perform physical layer troubleshooting (ports, cabling, connectivity)

Operational Execution Accountability

Rapidly integrate into new sites and contribute within 24–72 hours of arrival

Follow MOPs, CMOPs, and safety protocols with strict adherence

Accurately document work through ticketing systems and operational logs

Support both planned deployment work and reactive break/fix scenarios

Operate effectively in client-facing environments with high visibility and accountability

Performance Expectations

Deliver measurable output aligned to deployment targets, ticket closure rates, and SLA performance

Maintain high quality and accuracy with minimal rework

Adapt quickly to new environments, teams, and operating conditions

Demonstrate strong ownership, reliability, and consistency across deployments

Travel Deployment Expectations (Critical)

Ability to mobilize within 24–48 hours of notice

Willingness to travel 70–90% of the time across multiple U.S. locations

Ability to support extended deployments (2–4+ weeks or longer) based on business demand

Comfortable working and living in hotel-based environments for extended periods

Flexibility to work day/night shifts, overtime, and weekends during surge events

This role is best suited for individuals who prefer dynamic, travel-intensive work environments over fixed-site assignments.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

2–5+ years of hands-on experience in data center operations, infrastructure deployment, or break/fix repair

Strong experience with rack and stack, cabling, and hardware installation

Proven experience with fiber (splicing strongly preferred, OTDR testing, troubleshooting)

Familiarity with Cisco, Juniper, Arista, and x86 server hardware

Experience with low voltage systems and industry standards (BICSI, ANSI, EIA/TIA)

Ability to read technical diagrams, port maps, and infrastructure documentation

Tools Systems Exposure

Experience with ticketing/workflow systems (e.g., ServiceNow or equivalent)

Familiarity with infrastructure documentation, inventory, and asset management systems

Ability to operate within client-specific tools, dashboards, and reporting environments
