Tejano Mercado And Campus Life Activities Assistant

Responsible for assisting with programs and services related to the Tejano Mercado and Campus Life Activities, ensuring the effective operation, promotion, and support of student basic needs across the El Paso Community College (EPCC) District.

In-person work on campus is an essential function of this position.

Essential Functions

Assist with the Tejano Mercado intake request form, collection, and dissemination of product and inventory, help promote Campus Life and Tejano Mercado activities within the college and community by advertising and disseminating information, and schedule pick-ups and deliveries to outlying campuses.

Assist with the daily operations of student basic needs services across EPCC campuses, including food pantries and emergency aid programs.

Assist with the intake, processing, and implementation of student emergency aid applications.

Provide transportation for students to local food banks.

Assist students with emergency needs and connect EPCC students to local resources.

Assist with the Campus Closet Initiative by coordinating clothing donations and supporting distribution.

Support logistical planning for facilities and equipment assigned to the Tejano Mercado.

Participate in various community and college-wide committees related to the program area, and travel between campuses to attend meetings, workshops, and seminars.

Assist with the production of marketing materials by designing banners, posters, and flyers for events and programs and promote and advertise events and programs at the college and in the community.

Assist with administrative reports for Campus Life events, program budgets, recognition, and awards.

Interpret and implement policies and procedures for Campus Life programs, events, and activities.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

1.

One (1) year of college and one (1) year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

NOTE:

A copy of the transcript reflecting this required education MUST be submitted for consideration and reflect completed coursework and degrees conferred.

The candidate must be fully qualified for the position at the time of application.

2.

Working knowledge of food insecurity resources, tools, and programs and Campus Life programs such as Tejano Mercado, Campus Closet, etc.

3.

Ability to assist in adapting procedures and policies to meet evolving organizational needs.

4.

Ability to develop and conduct presentations.

5.

Experience providing effective customer service.

6.

Effective telephone etiquette skills.

7.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and handle confidential information.

8.

Experience developing and maintaining inventory records and ability to generate reports.

9.

Effective communication skills (both oral and written).

10.

Strong organizational and interpersonal skills and ability to multi-task.

11.

Proficient computer skills to include internet navigation, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.

Special Conditions:

1.

The El Paso Community College is building a pool of Applicants for part-time staff positions.

This pool will be accessed when an opening arises.

Your application will remain active for approximately one (1) year from July 2025 to June 2026.

After this time, you will need to re-apply if you are still interested in remaining a part of the pool.

2.

This is a security-sensitive position as defined under the Texas Education Code, Section 51.

215; the successful applicant will be required to undergo a criminal background check, as permitted and/or required by applicable law, and in accordance with the College's policies and procedures.

3.

Operating a motor vehicle is an essential job function of this position; all final position candidates will be required to undergo a motor vehicle records check, as permitted and/or required by applicable law, and in accordance with the College's policies and procedures.

Thereafter, motor vehicle records checks will be conducted annually.

4.

Must possess a valid driver's license.

5.

Must be insurable by the district's auto liability insurance carrier.

6.

Must be able to travel between campuses.

7.

Work hours will vary and may require irregular and/ or extended working hours including evenings and weekends.
