How you'll make an impact:

MRP is searching for a passionate and agile Material Handler / Baler Operator who consider themselves problem-solvers and excited by challenges and the opportunity to build something great with us. As a Material Handler / Baler Operator, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of raw materials, work-in-process inventory, and finished goods throughout the facility. This position also operates and maintains the baler equipment used to compact wastepaper, corrugated materials, and other recyclable materials generated during production. This role supports production operations by ensuring materials are available when needed and maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

What will you do in this role?

Material Handling

  • Load, unload, move, stack, and stage materials using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.
  • Supply production lines with raw materials and remove finished goods as needed.
  • Verify material quantities, labels, and product identification.
  • Transport materials between departments and warehouse locations.
  • Maintain accurate inventory transactions and records.
  • Assist with receiving and shipping activities, including inspection and documentation of materials.
  • Perform cycle counts and inventory audits as assigned.
  • Ensure proper storage and organization of materials and finished products.

Baler Operation

  • Operate baling equipment to compress wastepaper, cardboard, and other recyclable materials.
  • Monitor baler performance and report equipment issues promptly.
  • Safely tie, remove, label, and stage bales for recycling pickup.
  • Maintain cleanliness around baling equipment and recycling areas.
  • Follow lockout/tagout procedures and safety protocols when clearing jams or performing maintenance.
  • Coordinate bale storage and recycling shipments with warehouse or production personnel.

General Responsibilities

  • Follow all company safety policies, GMP requirements, and work instructions.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area using 5S principles.
  • Participate in safety meetings and training programs.
  • Assist with production support activities as needed.
  • Communicate material shortages, inventory discrepancies, and equipment concerns to supervision.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and operational efficiency efforts.
  • Other duties as assigned

What does it take to be successful in this role?

Basic Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.
  • Basic computer and inventory tracking skills.
  • Ability to read and understand work orders, shipping documents, and safety procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Requirements

  • Previous manufacturing, warehouse, or material handling experience preferred.
  • Experience operating balers or recycling equipment preferred.

The physical requirements and work environment:

Physical Demands

  • Frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, and twist throughout the shift.
  • Regularly lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds; heavier items with assistance or equipment.
  • Ability to operate powered industrial trucks and baling equipment safely.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
