About the role

The CFO’s mission is to continue building upon Grüns' already strong finance and data function — evolving it into a best-in-class engine that empowers the entire organization to make faster, smarter decisions. Leading a team of three strong leaders, this role is about leading the strong teams below them to democratize financial intelligence across the Grüns organization: self-serve dashboards, on-demand reporting, and real-time visibility that puts decision-making power in the hands of every team member.

The CFO is a relentless, collaborative business partner, never satisfied with where the business is on revenue scale or profitability, always pushing for the next point of EBITDA margin improvement across all functions and driving efficiency to fuel continued revenue growth. They will ensure Grüns scales with confidence while meeting all external requirements seamlessly in the background.

This role is part of our remote HQ! We have a fully remote, high-trust work environment - and also come together on a biannual basis for amazing off-sites where we can connect IRL.

What success looks like:

If we look ahead a year from now, the right person in this role would have:

Leveraged what we’ve built so far, found areas for improvement, and fully operationalized a goal accountability framework that keeps business initiatives tied to financial outcomes, ensuring the leadership team is consistently tracking toward revenue and profitability targets.

Driven meaningful EBITDA margin improvement across all functions and improved LTV:CAC efficiency to fuel continued revenue growth.

Delivered self-serve dashboards, templatized reporting, and real-time P L visibility across functions so every team has the data access they need without relying on ad-hoc requests. Business decisions are democratized and exponentially quicker.

Created the conditions for a high-performing, motivated team empowering vs. micromanaging, actively developing leaders, and driving strong results and performance without burnout.

Built the systems and processes to meet all external reporting and compliance requirements seamlessly, keeping the team focused on growth.

We're looking for someone with:

Relentless Growth Mindset: Always asking what it takes to get to the next level, whether that's another point of margin, better efficiency, or a faster path to revenue growth - a genuine internal drive to make the business the best it can be. Finding new opportunities across the business and proposing these opportunities to the CEO and functional leads.

Integrity and Business-First Thinking: Prioritizes the truth over “looking good”. Navigates competing stakeholder interests honestly and thoroughly rather than taking the path of least resistance.

Empowering Leadership: Leads by giving people the tools, clarity, and confidence to make great

decisions vs. controlling the work directly. Actively develops their functional leaders, makes their team better than they were before. Drives sustainable high performance.

Paper Wall Pusher: Treats perceived constraints as hypotheses, not facts. When told something takes six weeks or "this is how it's done," they ask why and push for faster, smarter, or different. Actively hunts for process bloat and inherited ways of working to find improvements.

AI-Native Operator: Uses AI natively in their own workflow and actively builds AI fluency

into the team's operating model. Sees AI as a core lever for scaling the function's

impact without scaling headcount.

Direct, but kind: Direct and honest in every conversation, saying what needs to be said,

even when it's uncomfortable. Deeply committed to the business and the people in it.

Experience:

10+ years leadership experience in a high-growth, profitable businesses; some level of physical inventory experience (CPG, retail, e-commerce, or similar) is a must

Experience leading the functions in scope - finance, accounting, data, and BizOps functions

Experience within a high-growth company that is adapting to public company practices
