Role Summary:

Our client is a nationally recognized real estate investment and development firm with a strong presence across the U.S. The company is a vertically integrated platform development, construction, and asset management. The Corporate Accounting Associate will support key areas of the corporate accounting function, including compensation and benefits accounting, lease accounting and administration (including ASC 842), cash management, accounts payable, and general ledger activity.

Reporting to the Vice President of Corporate Accounting, this role provides broad exposure to the day-to-day operations of a corporate finance team within a dynamic real estate investment organization. The position also offers exposure to corporate budgeting and forecasting activities.

Key Responsibilities:

Corporate Accounting & Close

  • Prepare journal entries related to corporate accounting functions as part of the monthly and quarterly close process
  • Assist with balance sheet reconciliations, variance analysis, and internal reporting support
  • Maintain supporting documentation and schedules for accounting records and reporting

Compensation & Benefits Accounting

  • Support accounting for corporate compensation and benefits programs
  • Prepare payroll-related journal entries and monthly benefit accruals
  • Assist with accounting for complex incentive compensation plans

Lease Accounting & Administration

  • Support lease accounting activities in compliance with ASC 842
  • Maintain lease schedules and prepare related accounting entries
  • Assist with administration and tracking of corporate leases

Cash & Accounts Payable

  • Record and reconcile corporate cash activity across accounts
  • Process corporate accounts payable transactions including invoice coding and entry
  • Support payment processing and vendor communication as needed

Audit, Reporting & Process Improvement

  • Assist with internal and external audit requests by preparing supporting schedules and documentation
  • Contribute to process improvements to enhance efficiency and strengthen internal controls
  • Monitor and respond to shared accounting inboxes and coordinate with cross-functional teams to resolve accounting inquiries

FP&A Support

  • Assist with quarterly and annual forecasting activities for the corporate operating company
  • Support corporate budget analysis and reporting as needed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
  • CPA or CPA Candidate
  • 1+ years of progressive accounting experience; real estate or construction industry preferred and/or public accounting experience
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP
  • Proficient in Excel and ERP systems
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment
