We are seeking an Elementary Homeschool Educator to support an upper-elementary homeschool student in a personalized, home-based learning environment. This role goes beyond traditional tutoring. It combines engaging academic instruction with project-based learning, executive functioning support, and homeschool planning to create a meaningful, individualized educational experience.
The ideal candidate is an experienced educator who can design learning experiences that foster curiosity, creativity, independence, and a lifelong love of learning. This family deeply values a Montessori-inspired philosophy, emphasizing hands-on learning, student autonomy, creativity, and meaningful, interdisciplinary projects over traditional worksheets and direct instruction.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide highly personalized, one-on-one instruction tailored to the student's interests, strengths, and learning needs
- Design and facilitate engaging project-based learning experiences that naturally integrate literacy, math, science, social studies, and executive functioning skills
- Develop weekly learning plans that balance structure with flexibility and encourage student ownership of learning
- Foster executive functioning, organization, independence, and self-advocacy throughout the homeschool day
- Create a rich, hands-on learning environment that encourages creativity, movement, critical thinking, and exploration
- Collaborate closely with the family to ensure thoughtful planning, clear communication, and ongoing student growth
- Monitor progress and adapt instruction based on the student's interests and evolving needs
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Education or a related field preferred
- Minimum of five years of elementary teaching experience
- Montessori teaching experience or formal Montessori training strongly preferred
- Experience with homeschooling, project-based learning, inquiry-based learning, Reggio Emilia, or Waldorf education is highly valued
- Experience supporting executive functioning and individualized instruction
- Strong communication, organization, and collaborative planning skills
- Ability to balance structure with flexibility in a dynamic, home-based learning environment
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $60.00 per hour
